Context:
Jal Seva Charitable Foundation (JSCF) is registered in India as a not for profit company under Chapter 8 of the Companies Act, 2013. JSCF, is an associate member of WaterAid International and uses the brand name ‘WaterAid’ in India.
WaterAid India seeks to improve access to clean water, decent toilets and good hygiene for everyone, everywhere.

WaterAid India’s (WAI) country office is based in New Delhi with State Offices in Bhopal, Raipur, Bhubaneswar, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Patna and Lucknow. We currently work in 11+ states across the country.
WAI’s Programme focus in the next five years is on ensuring that communities – especially low-income families – are WASH secure i.e. with assured access to safe drinking water at the household level; with safely managed sanitation’ institutions such as anganwadi’s, schools and health care facilities with adequate and appropriate WASH infrastructure and with good hygiene behaviours. We seek to do this through demonstration and the provision of technical and knowledge support to governments at all levels who can facilitate this adoption on scale.
Purpose:
To lead, synergies, coordinate, and focus all digital (website, online & mobile) communication activities towards enhancing WaterAid as a brand in line with the organisation’s vision, mission, values and strategy. The Web and Social Media Coordinator acts as an expert to lead the delivery of best -in class digital content and engagement campaigns – across owned, earned and paid media.
Responsibility:
A. Website Management:
• Develop a digital media strategy encompassing website, SEO, SEM, social media, and other digital mediums
• Manage WaterAid India’s website including microsites. Work with the Strategic Lead- Media and Communications to position high-quality content such as success stories/case studies/human interest stories/ videos on the website
• Develop microsites, and place engaging content/ visuals to drive fundraising efforts and increase engagement of current donors.
• Update content and refresh pages/ microsites from the programs, policy, resource mobilisation teams to enhance the experience of stakeholders visiting our website
• Ensure and liaise with WaterAid UK technical support team to ensure that all website pages function without any technical, or server glitches.
• Optimize copy and landing pages for search engine optimization (SEO).
• Monitor and report Analytics (Google analytics, semrush, similarweb etc.) to the management regularly – measure, evaluate and optimise all website content, and to inform key decision-making. Traffic analysis using Google analytics and similar tools – tracking visitors, user journeys, analysing multi-channel conversions.
• Develop a website framework to guide the processes and protocols related to content, images, web banners etc. Ensure that all web-based content is in line with the organisation’s branding & communication strategy.
• Adopt innovative measures to increase and retain digital traffic to WaterAid India website. Ensure increased number of users and increased sessions per user on website
• Collaborate with the internal team at Head office and state offices to ensure periodic program, fundraising, policy, events, and other updates on the website.
• Drive innovation and guide the organisation in the implementation of experimental ideas and approaches to website content and engagement that can help boost traffic.
• Be up-to-date with emerging digital trends and competitor activities.
• Identify, negotiate, onboard and handle agencies/freelances to conduct development work.
• Coordinate with internal stakeholders and external vendors/freelancers for troubleshooting.
B. Social media management:
• Closely work with the Digital agency to manage the existing WaterAid India social media platforms, like Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, and develop content strategies for each platform. Develop tactics to drive better traffic and engagement on social media platforms.
• Manage, commission, create and publish user-focused, action-oriented content in a variety of formats (text, infographic, video, etc.) and for a wide range of digital channels (including web, mobile, email and social).
• Work with the Communications team & other departments to define the process of information flow from various departments for digital update. Coordinate with the Content Officer to edit and develop content for use on social media platforms.
• Identify and retain external agencies to manage digital campaigns, online advertising activities and ensuring that these agencies adhere to service level agreements and monitor quality of services.
• Manage the online communications budgets and ensure that controls are in place to monitor and report on expenditure on returns on investments.
C. Supporting Digital Fundraising campaigns:
• Plan paid social media advertising strategies and budgets in collaboration with Fundraising team as a support role – Supervise the process of digital media buying to ensure that content is of a high quality as well as the choice of medium is appropriate and optimally utilize various digital platforms such as Google, Social media, mobile technology, payment gateways, supporter network, crowd fundraising etc. to help fundraising team drive fundraising targets
• Help fundraising team to ideate digital fundraising campaigns and assist in implementation & monitoring of each marketing activities (both paid and organic mediums).
• Conduct daily/weekly/monthly performance analysis of digital campaigns. Identify the gaps and key performing areas and leverage the same to assist fundraising team to augment the ROIs
• Develop engagement strategies for donors to ensure “Brand Love” by utilizing WaterAid India’s digital assets i.e. website, campaign microsites, social media handles, emails, WhatsApp etc.
• Support the fundraising team in testing different pilot campaigns by leveraging digital mediums to scale up income (web marketing strategy)– e.g. AB testing, PPC, retargeting, ad-words analytics, google grants, cookies, social media handles, viral campaigns, crowd-funding,
tracking and experimenting new digital mediums with potential for raising resources for WaterAid etc.
• Research gaps in market opportunities, competitive benchmarking and report the same
• Support fundraising team to collaborate with WaterAid Federation members for running campaigns across diff countries and customising global digital campaigns to Indian context
• Prepare dashboards for management for reporting
D. Process and communication
• Work with the Strategic Lead – Media & Communications to undertake organisational and environmental analysis, and prepare the budgets, plans and priorities for the organisation’s digital forays.
• Ensure that all communication needs in online spaces for resource mobilisation and fundraising are met with accuracy as far as the relevant stakeholders are concerned.
• Ensure that the advocacy approach that the organisation has adopted is supported effectively in online and mobile spaces.
• Monitor compliance with branding norms of organisation across web operations, ensure that deviations are highlighted and managed.
• Ensure timely reporting of information for the functional and financial MIS.
• Ensure effective coordination with other functions as required for exchange of information and work needs.

Eligibilities and requirements
A. Education
• Graduate or postgraduate in Digital Communication/ Mass Communication/ Digital Marketing or equivalent field from a reputed institute.
B. Experience
• Between 6-8 years of relevant work experience in similar organisational/ functional context
• Working knowledge of web applications, programming languages, and web services
• Proficiency with content management systems, including WordPress and Drupal
• Deep understanding of Google Analytics
• Extensive experience in strategic planning/development and digital channel management, as well as delivering social media campaigns based on audience insight.
Other specifications
• High level skills with online digital media tools/ trends, online consumer behaviour and upcoming technologies. Exposure to brand development.
• Excellent numeracy, data skills – attention to detail and business acumen to evaluate multiple e-business development concepts/ consumer behaviour
• Well versed in written standard English, creative ability and meeting standards for quality output.
• Sound conceptual understanding of the digital media universe
• Excellent analytical and writing skills (Hindi and English); multimedia skills would be an asset
• Excellent communication and (re)presentation skills, outgoing personality o Able to work under high pressure and adhere to deadlines
• Creative, pro-active, and flexible
• Interest and knowledge of humanitarian issues in India
• Excellent knowledge of MS Office, especially MS Word and MS Excel
• Demonstrable interest in and understanding of public health and WASH issues. Experience of producing written materials on WASH issues for publication
• Ability to manage stakeholder relationships, influence effectively at all levels and work collaboratively.
